WEST COAST TRAIL
July 3 to 9, 2007 - West Coast Trail Hiking
Trip
We got together we a group of our friends and hiked the world-famous
West Coast Trail. We hiked 75km from the south end of the
trail to the north (Port Renfrew to Bamfield). Here's some
photos from our trek:
Day 00: The Trip there
We left for Vancouver Island on July 2nd. In order to get going on the trail
first thing on the 3rd, we spent the night at a local campsite in Port
Renfrew.

Day 01: Gordon River
Trailhead - Thrasher Cove
The trek we took started at the more difficult end of the trail, with a ton
of elevation change through dense forest, ending in a massive ladder climb
down to the beach. We figured our packs may be their heaviest at this
point, but our legs would be the freshest.

Day 07: Michigan Creek - Pachena Trailhead,
and then the trip home
The final leg was a relatively easy hike out. Part of the trail had
been washed out and rebuilt with some new ladders, and the final kilometers
were spent on what felt like a neighbourhood bike path. At the end we signed
the log book, admired our blisters, and waited for the bus to arrive and
drive us back to the start. What a great hike.
